Dimensional 'Bronde' Balayage
In this industry, we throw around a lot of words like balayage, babylights, teasylights, foilayage, etc. These are all techniques used to get your desired look and I love using all of the above! Balayage is a French word literally meaning “to sweep.” This creates an incredibly blended, seamless look and is very low maintenance.
Foilayage is obviously similar to the look of balayage, but it is achieved by painting the hair in foils. I will often use foilayage to get a higher lift- especially if my guest is wanting to go from medium brown/black hair to a lighter caramel/blonde.
Teasylights are achieved exactly how they sound- highlights that are teased. I LOVE using teasylights for pops of light dimension in the hair, especially around the hairline. Last but not least, babylights are simply a micro fine version of a foil highlight. I utilize this technique many ways, but my favorite is to create the “money piece” at the front hairline for a serious pop of blonde. ☀️
Now that you’ve had a mini crash course in color techniques, just know that one isn’t better than the other. I personally will choose the best technique(s) for your hair type, lifestyle, and hair color goals!
